Previously the Ontario Government appointed
the Electricity Conservation and Supply Task Force to review
and plan Ontario's long term electricity needs. The terms of
reference include the development of an action plan to attract
new generation and mechanisms to achieve demand side
management and energy conservation within the province.
Twenty task force members were appointed with
various energy affiliations across the province. The combined
task force will set out and examine all aspects of the
electric energy industry in the province but the development
of new sources of supply remains the crucial role for the task
force.
Energy Minister announced
that CEO of Toronto Hydro, will
chair the task force.
The Minister has asked for a report from the
task force by the end of the year.
